“I’m in my 40s and have had several jobs in the private sector after I got my BA. But I think it’s time for a change. I just love working with all kinds of people with different skills. Over time, I think I’ve developed the ability to listen to people and help them sort through problems they might be having. I’ve been hearing a lot about the challenges Australia faces and wonder if there is some way I can put my skills to use in another role?”
The NIC offers a range of roles at a range of levels. We are not just looking for people straight out of university or TAFE. There are often roles advertised at other levels which provide an opportunity for people who have some work experience to join the NIC.
We’re looking for people with government experience but also people from the private sector. We believe in bringing new ideas into intelligence work and we think that people with industry experience can help the NIC innovate and grow.
We’re looking for people who can think creatively and problem solve. People who don’t always think the first solution is the only solution. We want people who might be interested in analysing intelligence - looking at various different types of intelligence and drawing judgements. Or people who work with data and analysing different data sets.
And people who work in enabling roles – like HR, accountancy or security.
The Your Career tab provides you with an opportunity to match your skills and interests with roles and agencies in the NIC. You can also then match what jobs might be available for you.
So take a look. You might be surprised at what you find and at just how many jobs there are in the National Intelligence Community.
